ZimHealth Annual Fundraising Gala 2025 – A Reflection

GEMMA BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN! When Gemma took the stage at the ZimHealth Gala, we witnessed pure musical excellence! From the first note to the final song, the energy was absolutely electric! The crowd was singing and dancing along, completely mesmerize and most importantly: asking for MORE.

From the moment guests arrived, the venue was buzzing with excitement, elegance, and purpose! The room was filled with members of our community united for a cause. We had meaningful conversations about healthcare in Zimbabwe whilst we danced the night away! The best part of the night was seeing Zimbabweans and friends of Zimbabwe from all walks of life coming together – all united by culture and a shared purpose. The cheers, the shouts of joy, the celebration of our heritage – every moment reminded us why we do this!

Dereck Mpofu and DJ Ropa both graced the stage, with Dereck’s performance giving so much soul, energy and authenticity to the state. Supported by DJ Ropa and DJ Marlon, the trio kept the energy at an all time high thoughout the night. But added to that was a runway that ON FIRE at the ZimHealth Gala! Our talented designers brought their A-game, showcasing collections that celebrated African heritage, contemporary design, and pure artistic brilliance. Bola Nangabe captivated us with desert-inspired elegance, bringing the colors of the Kgalagadi to Geneva. Every piece told a story of resilience and beauty! Norman Slinger delivered masterful craftsmanship with designs that spoke of identity, culture, and self-definition. His collection was a living dialogue between past and present! House of Don brought a fresh perspective to streetwear with a collection of timeless pieces. We can’t wait to see the new collection!

But behind the music lights and glamour, we need to mention the REAL stars of the ZimHealth Gala – our amazing organizing committee and volunteers. A special thank you goes ot the organizing committee, the behind the scenes who handled the thousand and one small things that make up an event. From early morning setup to late-night cleanup, from planning meetings months in advance to problem-solving on the fly during the event, you showed up with dedication, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to healthcare for Zimbabwe.

You are the heartbeat of ZimHealth, and we are grateful beyond words! To everyone who volunteered: take a bow. You earned it! Heartfelt gratitude also goes to all our volunteers from the- registration team that welcomed every guest with warmth and efficiency to the stage managers who kept everything running seamlessly to our dual MC’s who brought great energy and kept guests engaged and entertained. Thank you! Tinotenda! Siyabonga!

The Executive Committee has to acknowledge that the gala did not generate a financial surplus as anticipated and has resolved to study the ways in which future events can be streamlined to meet financial objectives whilst also attaining the cultural and social goals. ZimHealth however remains deeply grateful for the connections forged and the meaningful impact the event had within the local community. The generosity of time, spirit, and collaboration shown by all involved strengthened relationships, forged new connections, raised awareness and reinforced our shared commitment to the cause. These outcomes, though not reflected on the balance sheeet, are invaluable and will continue to guide and inspire our work moving forward.

Merci inifiniment à tout le monde!

The Zimbabwe Network for Health (ZimHealth) seeks to raise funds to procure and distribute m edicines, diagnostics, vaccines and other commodities to rehabilitate the health facilities in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe’s once robust health-care services have declined in recent years, exacerbated by the AIDS epidemic, a serious economic crisis and the considerable exodus of skilled personnel including doctors and nurses.
