Dr Isabel Zigomo is a qualified GP Anaesthetist with a deep passion for medicine and for providing healthcare services to underserved communities.

Born in Malawi, Dr Zigomo grew up in Zimbabwe, where she attended Midlands State University and graduated with a Bachelors (Hons) degree in Biological Sciences. She then proceeded to the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, where she attained her
Medical degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Anaesthetics.

Dr Zigomo’s training at South Africa’s Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital – the largest academic hospital in the Southern Hemisphere – established her keen interest in public health. Her experience at Helen Joseph Hospital and the Raheema Moosa Mother and
Child Hospital nurtured a passion for maternal healthcare that has inspired her practice of medicine.

“I view the practice of medicine as a service and a truly great calling. I believe I have been fortunate in being able to learn and practice among communities that have inspired me to give my best and to always pursue the service of others. As I continue to develop my career, I remain inspired by the goal of providing access to medicine and healthcare services to those people who need them most,” she says.

Dr Zigomo joined ZimHealth in 2018 after relocating to Switzerland with her family.
